The President’s Perspective

Mary Lou Davis, Chapter President

August 26th marks the anniversary of the certification of the 19th Amendment. This amendment granted some women the right to vote. In honor of that date, August 26 has become known as Women’s Equality Day.

However, over one-hundred years later, women are still striving for equality in our democracy. As in years past, the League of Women Voters Topeka-Shawnee County continues efforts to empower women to exercise their rights at the ballot box. Equally important is the need to be an informed voter. The LWV provides non-partisan information regarding candidates at VOTE411.org.
